Travel Breaks for the Eco Conscious Traveler
Countless avid skiers will before long be finding their skiing gear and scooting away looking for the largest snowfall.
And undoubtedly the results of our carbon footprint will be roughly as far down the list of vacation essentials as a turkey sandwich after the Christmas vacation.
Merely last Christmas, a late snowfall made the the headlines and holidaymakers were terrified about the flecks of snow melting almost as soon as they put down.
Holiday business Chalet1802, located at the bottom of Mont Blanc in Chamonix the Alps, is one of the only autonomous businesses to go carbon neutral and offer snowboarders an environmentally friendly selection while organising their skiing holidays.
Chalet1802 owner Edlyn stated: Last winter was a bit of a shock with the most warm winter in sixty yrs in France. French ski fields for example La Mongie, Les Menuires and Isola 2000 lacked clients. It was mild and the snow didnt last so much of the early snowboarding season in the French Alps was uneven. We chose to become carbon negative to assist in the preservation the ski resort.
Edlyn said: We’re not trying to dictate to punters but I consider its of import to give the clients the selection without increasing the price of the stay. When the client book with us they can more than off-set their carbon footprint and we absorb the other prices. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub – guests desire luxury but not at the expense of the alps mountains, so we considered methods of diminishing the impact of someone flying over here for a winter holiday.”
