Gore’s Ambitious Energy Goal
Al Gore’s success in global warming efforts has pushed him to set his energy goals to the limit. The Nobel Prize winner has set his sights on a 10-year plan that aims to maximize the use of Earth-friendly energy resources in domestic electricity. He has also expressed his hopes that the country’s next president will embrace his goals. The former vice president was quick to point out that the current surge in fuel prices and pressing issues related to climate change has opened up great opportunities for undertaking bold steps towards getting the country off fossil fuel usage. He further added that John McCain and Barack Obama are both more informed and focused on the fight against climate change as compared to other politicians. Gore then suggested a policy change that would involve implementing a carbon tax on burning oil and coal. Although Gore has been attacked by conservatives for his claims on global warming, his efforts have not gone unnoticed. As a matter of fact, quite a huge number of Americans have switched to using Earth-friendly energy resources in their homes and offices. Gore certainly is wise to have made his move in this transitory phase wherein the old president is checking out and a new one is coming in. All he needs to do now is wait and hope that whoever will take over the White House will empathize with his advocacy and act on his plea.
